The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a non-profit organization that promotes and advances the development of alternative proteins. The grant program seeks research projects that advance the development of alternative protein fields.
Duration: Up to 24 months
Funding Amount: Up to 250, 000 USD
Additional Funding: Up to 100,000 USD for projects partnering with researchers and/or industry stakeholders not previously engaged in alternative protein research.
Eligibility
Applications from different sectors such as academia, government, industry, nonprofits, etc., and any region of the world will be considered.
Four Areas of Focus
Research proposals are expected to focus on these highlighted areas:
- Extrusion 2.0: Enhancing traditional extrusion through process innovation and mechanistic evaluations of protein texturization.
- Developing tools and knowledge to promote stemness and proliferation in seafood cell cultures.
- Data collection and curation to inform the development of genome-scale metabolic models for optimization of feedstock formulation and feed conversion.
- Improving feedstock availability for food fermentation in biomass and precision fermentation platforms.
